nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; When the death of a vulnerable young witness in a case of human trafficking and voodoo causes the normally calm Police Inspector Hector Salgado to beat someone up, he is moved off the project and sent instead to investigate a teenager's fall to his death in one of Barcelona's uptown areas. As Salgado begins to uncover the inconvenient truths behind the city's most powerful families, two seemingly unsolvable cases are set to implode under the hot Barcelona sun.

Best part of the writing is the author’s use of Barcelona. He captures the still humid heat of summer, the romance of the old barrios, the sounds and smells of the city; the hanging on of the old, despite pressures of the new, etc. Fun to read and to feel the reconstruction of the city and one’s memories of the city, as the plots wind and twist and finally resolve themselves....... with a few things still hanging in the air.

I don't mean to give short shrift to the well written characters.
