Fantastic documentary. This series would be a sight to behold in an IMAX theater, but at home on a good TV, it's still stunning.

Wow! I don't know what it cost to film this series, but however much the budget ran to it was money well spent. The cinematography can only be described as fabulous. Once upon a time it was the movie industry that gave us a modicum of quality entertainment while television sank to the lowest common denominator of trash. Today the roles of these two forms of media seem to have reversed, the cinema audience is subjected to mindless special effects while the television audience is treated to rare gems such as this.

The library really should get the Blu-ray version.

This is a magical series with 11 different themes. Covers so many wonderful, scenic and hidden parts of the earth. I saw areas and creatures of such beauty and magnificence. A great addition to anyone's cd library who finds the planet we live on one of amazement. A wonderful celebration for all of us here on Earth.

This is a 4-disc series and it is one of the best nature documentary overall: narration, cinematography, landscapes and unique geological features, unusual animals and creatures featured, music inspired by the indigenous culture, etc. The research, however, could use a little tightening up, such as when they discuss the walrus as being 'the largest seal in the world' in Disc 2, 'Ice Worlds.' But a quick Google search will reveal that the largest pinniped is actually the elephant seal in which males can grow to about 20' and weigh up to 8,800 lbs. I think this is a significant oversight, as what it implicitly states is that the person tasked to do the research for this documentary was a member of the film crew, not an animal scientist, and the viewer then begins to question some of the other statements made based on their research for this film, rightfully so. However, I will say that, despite this, the way the narration was developed is appealing, just be vigilant of the 'facts' that they present to you. It's kind of a shame because the filmmaker did so many other things right.

I watch this when I'm sick or when I am taking a Fundamentals of Law class.

This was wonderful, and I would have given it five stars if it were more in-depth, such as when they show a flock of birds, they mention something about them, but often not whether their numbers are decreasing since the past 100 years, or if their habitat is dwindling, or if everything is okay. (This series is in two separate DVD packages. However the "1-3 DVD" package actually has 1, 3, 4 and 5 DVD with DVD 2 not in it and its DVD holder has not room for 5 DVDS. The other DVD package has 4, 5, 6 DVD. )

Tuesday nights are Lions TV Bingo and a Planet Earth video with my Mom (82). She's so happy, and I'm awe struck as well. This series is just plain amazing.
