Everyone in Yorktide, Maine, knows sixteen-year-old Sarah Bauer. She's a good student, a dutiful daughter, and Cordelia Kane's best friend. It's a surprise to all when Sarah reveals that she's pregnant. Her family is supportive, yet the consequences ripple in all directions. Sarah's mother seizes on an idea: make a baby quilt together. Piece by piece, a beautiful design emerges as the women who create it find strength in the friendship and love that sustains them.
The description provided in the catalog does not exactly match the story, nor does the graphic on the cover. Both are a bit misleading. The story itself is good; I'm thinking about suggesting my 17-year-old granddaughter read the book. It is interesting reading the different perspectives of the characters about the same events. Everyone has her own hidden (at least initially) reasons for thinking what they do. This is definitely NOT a light beach read though.
