Paint, doodle, and sprinkle your way to stunning one-of-a-kind sweets.

The world of Sweetapolita is sparkly and sprinkly and charming as can be, with 75 recipes for everything from pretty homemade cookies to decadent layer cakes. But what really sets these treats apart are interactive designs that let everyone in on the fun of decorating: Painted Mini Cakes are served with edible "paint" for guests to personalize at the table, the fondant-covered tiered Chalk-a-Lot cake is paired with homemade edible "chalk," and Rainbow Doodle cookies are made for kids to go to town on with edible markers.

Rosie Alyea, the creator of the Sweetapolita blog, frolics in flour and frosting, and she loves to get her two young daughters involved, too. The pages of her debut book are full of playful ideas that will inspire creativity in bakers of all levels--including a recipe for making sprinkles at home and numerous ways to showcase them, such as the Sprinkle-Me-Silly Pizza with rainbow jimmies and nonpareils galore.

With 75 full-color photographs of cookies, cakes, and more plus step-by-step technique tutorials, The Sweetapolita Bakebook will change the way bakers decorate, while entertaining every kid--and kid-at-heart.

Rosie Alyea fell in love with designing cakes when she attended the acclaimed Bonnie Gordon School in Toronto. Since 2010, her "Sweetapolita" blog has attracted many followers who delight in her cheery, artistic baked goods. Alyea's fans will thus delight in the long overdue "The Sweetapolita Bakebook" and those who have never seen the blog will soon wonder how they survived so long without making rainbow cake!

Recipes range from the simple to the intricate; more complicated ones can seem overwhelming but, even if you don't apply every artistic detail to your own creations, following the foundation recipes then decorating as you please will still yield delicious results. Alyea's rich, moist chocolate cake proves entirely worth the effort and her sugar cookies take a basic, often drab baked good to a whole new level. Many recipes also have an interactive element so, if you bake cookies for a kids' party, for example, guests can get creative and decorate the baking with a personal touch.

If your pantry lacks cake decorating ingredients and tools, start-up may seem pricey because of the cost of colourings, cutters etc but the investment will pay off after a few special events. So, if you love making unique desserts or want to learn, you'll find plenty of motivation in the mouth-watering recipes and stunning colour photos of "Sweetapolita."
