The Prodigal Daughter Returns

Ten years ago, Amish quiltmaker Leah Beiler and her twin brother left their community and family without a word. Now she's finally come home--with her orphaned young niece. Leah has much to explain to so many, including Ezra Stoltzfus. Before she left, she dreamed of marrying the handsome dairy farmer. But now that she's lived among the English and is raising a child who knows nothing of Amish ways, Ezra worries she'll leave again. Leah will have to prove to Ezra that her future is in Paradise Springs--and with him--forever.

Love this book and so glad to have found this author! If you are like me and also love Beverly Lewis and Suzanne Woods Fisher's books, you will like Jo Ann Brown's Amish fiction, too.

This is not one of the new-style Amish books I've been discovering out there lately that focus on sensuality rather than and more than inspiration. It is fine with me when the author refers to the heart skipping a beat, tingling up the arms, etc. when relaying the sensual chemistry between two people, but the books that go on to have the man with his shirt off and describing his muscles at the same time reads to me like approaching porn and I normally don't care to read about that -- but especially dislike reading something like that in Amish fiction. One Amish fiction book I checked out had just such a scene on the very first page of the book. The only good thing about that was that I did not waste my time reading past the first page!

This book has all the things I look for in good Amish fiction, including the very Christian inspiration!

Other: The software will not allow me to change the age recommendation which I had as "all." I think it would be better saying from 10 to 12 years and up.

"'The verses are from the Book of Luke'," Ezra went on. 'If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him'. If I want God to forgive one of His kinder [children]--me, for example--I need to forgive His other kinder."

"If I hold that God is almighty, then I need to accept that I may be blind to His plan, but everything that happens is part of that plan."

"No one is a burden in a time of need."
