Add a CommentI absolutely love this book! I have read all of the Noel Streatfeild books I can get my hands on, and Ballet Shoes is one of my top favorites. I love the time period, and the way Streatfeild makes you feel personally connected to each character. If you enjoy this book, you may consider reading Thursday's Child (my personal favorite), also written by Streatfeild.
I don't know how I missed this book as a child, but I'm reading it with my 8-year-old and we love it. Very British and wonderful.
This is my very favorite book. I checked it out 24 weeks in a row when I was in third grade. I re-read it from time to time (I am now 64). It creates wonderful, vivid images of life in London between the war. Also, the female characters are strong and independent, which was not something I encountered in most books I read as a child. I think the character Petrova greatly influenced me to pursue a career in law, which was not traditional for women when I graduated from college (she loves all things mechanical, such as auto repair). This is the best of the "Shoes" series by Noel Streatfield.
I love this book. It is a classic and everyone should read it!!!
This book portrays a very realistic assessment of what it is like in the film and theater world, and it's great for kids and adults alike! =^.^=
Love this book!
I first read this book as a child and have re-read it several times since as an adult - it never loses it's charm.
