Funniest book I read all year. A little T Rex starts school, and has a hard time fitting in.

An absolutely hilarious story of a little dinosaur who can't help eating her human classmates--and who can blame her since we're apparently so delicious. On top of it's great sense of humor, though, this book is excellent for teaching empathy, the Golden Rule, and maybe even the importance of impulse control.

The main character in this book was hilarious as she started her first day at school to discover she was in a class filled with human children and she just couldn't stop eating them! Although, she always spit them back up after she was told off it was just her instinct to eat them when she went to school. There were many hilarious lines and the overall message of treating others the way you would want to be treated came through well in a way that will delight children and teach them a valuable lesson.

A very cute and funny picture book about a young dinosaur's first day of school. A great pick for first day of school jitters and good for a laugh. Would make a nice read aloud.

Penelope Rex has a challenging first day at school. Despite having many tuna sandwiches to eat, she can't stop herself from eating her classmates! The art in this book is colorful, fun, and features a classroom with a diverse student body who are a delight to see interact with Penelope as she grows in the story.

Great book! Our 3 year old son started preschool and also loves dinosaurs. We laughed the whole way through while reading. It’s also an excellent way to talk about behaviors that aren’t acceptable in class.

There's some pretty stellar advice here on the topic of making friends! Hilarious & adorable, this picture book is sure to convince the most reluctant of first-day-of-school children it'll be well worth it. The classroom depicted is also very diverse!

Penelope Rex's first day at school doesn't go quite like she was hoping. She is nervous, and she is excluded...although that is because, upon meeting her human classmates, she ate them. Her teacher had her spit them out, but the damage was already done. This sweet little dinosaur wants to be friends, but people are just delicious. That is when Penelope learns a lesson in empathy. In a silly twist, an unexpected "carnivore" tries to eat her. It's a scary and painful experience, so from then on, she refrains from doing the same to others. For young children, it's an important lesson, and Higgins presents it well by showing the emotional consequences. Penelope Rex has an adorable bobble-head design, and stands out from the rest of the palette with her yellow skin, and pink overalls. Like his other works, the characters express themselves with their whole bodies. We Don't Eat Our Classmates has a slightly more serious tone than some of them, but the designs and text still lend themselves to a humorous reading.

A very cute and entertaining picture book about a sweet dinosaur named Penelope. The illustrations are awesome, and the story line is endearing. It is a great picture book to read aloud, will many opportunities for inflection and excitement. I highly recommend this book for all ages.

Very funny story about a little dinosaur named Penelope. In her first days of school, she finds it hard to make friends because she eats her classmates. Why? Because children are delicious. She does spit them back up when the teacher tells her to, but they are covered with slime. After a tough encounter with the class goldfish, she learns that being chomped isn't fun and eventually makes friends. I laughed all the way through this.
