Great read! Kept me interested with his stories, wisdom and humor. Im really not into autobiography type books but since it was the one and only Shatner I gave it a chance.. Im glad I did!
This book is a very enjoyable read; and Shatner has a great philosophy of life.Note: Shatner was born in Montreal Canada.
Shatner always makes me laugh. He's got the right attitude. For him life is one wild ride. Even at 82 ( 80 at the time he wrote the book ). Can't beat that.
If I learned anything from this book, it is to say “Yes” to life a lot more often! Avoiding saying “Yes” is safe, conservative and typically very dull. Conversely, taking risks opens one up to new opportunities, amazingly wonderful experiences one never would have enjoyed if he hadn’t given himself the chance. It’s time to be a little bold and outrageous!
This is an autobiography intertwined with humorous anecdotes and William Shatner’s own blend of rare philosophy. Learn about Shatner’s “salons,” in which attendees exchange ideas while watching football. Find out whether Captain Kirk of the starship Enterprise ever said, “Beam me up, Scotty!” and how William Shatner got his start in acting.
This is a fun and easy read. I chuckled my way through it and would recommend it to my friends -- and fiends -- as well!
Shatner is truly an American icon and very funny. With his wide variety of roles and projects and the fact that he knows a truly diverse group of actors, musicians, and public figures, this book is a fun, fast read.
I was never a watcher of Star Trek, although I did catch the occasional episode in after school television and I was working at a movie theatre when the first Star Trek movie was released. I never watched the other shows Shatner was in either, but became more interested in him when I came across a Youtube clip of a serious stage performance he'd done. This book is humour and memoir, philosophy and marketing. Shatner tells of his past, his acting career, his life, his habits, and his passions. Using the construct of actor's ego, he makes himself bigger than life, while talking of taking chances and being open to new ideas. Shatner is an interesting man, but Bill is even more interesting. From horses to songs, mindfulness to talk shows, we learn what he is up to now and why we should be interested. I am.
